CHARLIE ALLEN RENOVATIONS ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP
Julie Palmer named President; Charlie Allen to remain as CEO
CAMBRIDGE, MA [February 22, 2013] – Cambridge-based Charlie Allen Renovations (www.charlie-allen.com) is pleased to announce the promotion of Julie Palmer to President of the award-winning renovation firm. Palmer has most recently served as the company’s Director of Operations. Allen, who founded the company in 1978, will remain as CEO, focusing primarily on business development and client relations.
“When Julie joined us fourteen years ago as office manager, she quickly set about identifying and systemizing our best practices, from customer relations to construction methods,” says Allen. “Over time, she developed the thorough process — from planning to project completion — that defines every Charlie Allen Renovations project, and her oversight has ensured company-wide adherence to that process. Her new role allows Julie to continue the fine work that she has done and assures me that our company will remain strong and vital for years to come.”
While Allen will no longer oversee daily operations, he emphasizes that he remains actively involved. “Julie’s new role as president will allow me to focus on aspects of this job that I love the most, including finding the renovation solutions that allow our clients to live comfortably while preserving the historic character of their homes.” Allen, who has served as President of the Cambridge Historical Society, will remain actively involved with that group and with other community organizations, as well.
Born and raised in New York State, Palmer has a passion for history – in fact she has a degree in the subject from Tulane University. Her first professional job was with a magazine and book distributor in Seattle, where she managed transportation and distribution, overseeing 45 drivers and 100 customer service people. After moving back east, she began working at Charlie Allen Renovations.
“Living in Cambridge, I love walking with my partner Becky and our daughter and seeing the home improvements that our team has made over the years. It’s truly inspiring to be part of that process,” she says. “Working alongside Charlie, Project Development Manager Mark Philben, and our entire talented team, I’m very excited about the future of Charlie Allen Renovations, including changes that we’ll be announcing in the next few months.”
In addition to her work with Charlie Allen Restorations, Palmer has served on the board of the Builders Association of Greater Boston, chaired its Custom Builders and Remodelers Council for two years, and served on its Sales and Marketing Committee. She has co-chaired the Contractor of the Year Awards Committee for the Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. She has also volunteered at Newtown Preschool and the Amigos School in Cambridge.
