CHARLIE ALLEN RENOVATIONS WINS BEST RESIDENTIAL EXTERIOR GOLD AWARD

Prize, from PRO New England, Shared with Project Partner Traverse Architects

 

CAMBRIDGE, MA [May 22, 2024] — Cambridge-based Charlie Allen Renovations has won a 2024 PRO New England Best Residential Exterior Gold Award for its work on several outdoor spaces including a roof-deck and a new entry and portico at a Winchester, MA home. The award is shared with project partner Traverse Architects of Cambridge and was presented at the 2024 PRO Awards at the Clarke Showroom in Milford, MA on Wednesday, May 8.

Charlie Allen Renovations and Traverse Architects had previously accomplished a series of interior renovations for the homeowners, a couple who work in the music industry and enjoy hosting large gatherings and in-home concerts at their house. The final phase of this multi-year partnership focused on exterior spaces, including the introduction of an expansive roof deck with a fire pit, kitchenette, seating area, and pergola. An elegant trellis, built along the back and one side of the home, shelters several patio dining areas, while a new entry offers an enlarged protective portico with seating.

This year, projects were submitted for PRO Awards across 25 categories. A panel of independent reviewers judged the project entries in a blind evaluation. Projects were awarded points for how well they met the client’s needs and enhanced the functionality and aesthetics of the space, innovative uses of materials and methods, the ability to overcome obstacles creatively, the craftsmanship displayed in the work, and the presentation of the project.
